Some Never Remember The Real Heroes: Norman Borlaug 1914-2009

Some are remembered for their music, some are remembered by their leadership, and some are even remembered for their skill on a basketball court or baseball diamond. But chances are good that not too many people will remember Norman Borlaug. Who is Norman Borlaug or more important what did Norman Borlaug do with his life?

Norman Borlaug who was born in Iowa grew up not to farm but to save the lives of 2,000,000,000 (two billion people) at the very least. Receiving the Noble Peace Prize in 1970 for the creation of the high yielding seed which is redundant to heat and cold and that can be grown just about anywhere has given life to more people then Borlaug himself could even imagine.

I find it sad that this man has not been given any
credit for the movement of peace.
So I just want to say here on my little
blog that I shall remember Norman Borlaug

Have I gone so low that I post this posting to say I have nothing to say?

has this become the Seinfeld of blogs? Like the hit 90s T.V. program about nothing?

I don’t know if this blog is a hit or not but I do have something to say. Hello, ya it’s been a while. I’m back and I’m still pissed! we have a new administration so I’m not going to nag on the politics all day. Although I do wish to expose whom I think is nothing more then dumb asses. By the way is dumbasses.com taken? Anyway my neighbor, yes Jerry I’m talking about you. Jerry says the second amendment should allow you to take a loaded handgun to a presidential event. Because the framers of this country did not forbid it by name.

I’m too young to have seen Dr. in person or on live TV but I cant help but to remember those words that I memorized in civics class. The words of a man whose time on this earth would end sooner then anyone could have known, have without a doubt come true today. I just finished watching coverage of our new president. And to tell you the truth I still can’t believe it happened. I keep slapping myself. Daily!

I think. No! I know today I saw history made. So often we see history in the making, but its often history of times we would rather forget. It is sadly so rare to see history change for the better good of mankind, for the betterment of our own better angels.

All I can saw is I look forward to seeing more history being made and to having the right to blog about it right here.

I saw a curious breaking news article on the internet a few hours ago. It appears that Al Qaeda’s number two official has called President-Elect Barack Obama a “House Negro”. I think Al Qaeda needs to hire a media relations expert. Because the last time I checked you can’t be a house negro when you are the (soon to be) master of the freaking house!

A wise President once made that statement. If you have read this blog you know which side of the fence I’m on, I don’t hide it. And I’m not here to beg for last minute votes for Barack Obama. And I’m not here to gloat, because to tell you the truth I’m not even sure if we are going to get it this time.

It has been a hard election cycle to say the least. It would be a double loss for Obama if he lost this one. I was sad to hear this his grandmother (the woman who raised him) has died before she could see this improbable journey come to pass.

All I can say is that I do not regret one second of the work I was involved in with the Obama campaign. In fact I would like to say that I admire the work that McCain staffers have done, even thought I don’t agree with them. They have however taken a stand for something.

It’s a growing problem in this country, even more for young people, who don’t seem to take a stand on anything. As Terence Mann, character in the famous Iowa filmed movie Field of Dreams said “a passion is still a passion” no matter what it is.

I know I’m going to catch fire for this but the truth is that at times I wanted to disown my county because of its totalitarian policies created under George Bush. But that changed one day in 2004 I met a man running for senate named Barack Obama. I didn’t know that he would run for president so soon after his election to the senate. However like Kennedy also a junior senator and a catholic (a double minority). Once said “Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.” I believe this journey will not be easy, nor should it be. But right now I must put away any petty prejudice I have and be a stronger man.

It’s two hours until the polls open and I’m ready for change.

It seems that most of the media outlets are saying the same thing. Obama? He has the election in the bag. But he wont win, because white folk are going to vote for McCain even though they claim when asked that they support Obama.

Do you buy that? Most of the people I know (who are white) speak their mind. The other day here in my small Iowa town, I can truthfully say that Obama signs out number McCain signs 5 to 1. Are all these people simply afraid of being called a hate monger?

Are white folk in the closet? Because I have to tell you, if that is true then we have some very passionate people working day and night for Obama. Are they hiding their hate?

Just remember that Obama Won Iowa. Iowa! that’s pretty damn white.

Sunday while on an ABC morning talk show Obama was discussing his Christian faith. While doing so he said that many in the right wing calmed and still claim that he is a Muslim. While on the subject he said the phrase “my Muslim faith” clearly an accident, Obama immediately corrected himself saying “my Christian faith”.

It’s sad that republicans have to stoop to editing footage they know without a doubt is false and portray it as fact. Below is a video which has not been edited down to 10 seconds, view it, send it to your friends and stop the lies.

John McCain failed at all odds to beat Barack Obama’s record breaking 40 million viewers of his acceptance speech, which received more viewers then the last American Idol final. But did John McCain do himself a disservice as well?

John McCain seemed to come across as a wounded warrior, failing his que to introduce his running mate Sarah Palin. But less important he came off as smug, even arrogant. Telling supporters that he is not running because he feels he must make history, a clear remark made at Obama.

Commentators agree last nights speech was an “ok speech” most would agree that McCain is not a great speaker. However people hoping to find substance were left with little more then an ailing preacher singing to his choir.

Does “Palin Family Matters” Matter?

I have always made it a personal policy of mine never to attack the family member(s) of a political figure unless that person may effect decisions the political figure may make. I been talking with fellow political commentators on the validly of using “Palin Family Matters”.

First I must ask myself does that matter reflect on the public figure’s all around character. Do teens make mistakes? All the time.

Second will this matter effect decisions this person might make as an elected official? You better believe it. I’m not going to go into detail about my family’s history. However I can tell you that decisions of the son or daughter will always weigh in on the parent in the end.

And finality do matters of the personal life reflect on the candidate? Yes.
Last year while Sarah Palin was traveling in Texas, he water broke. Instead of finding a doctor in Dallas, Texas she flew back to Alaska. Folks. That is without a doubt an incredibly dangerous decision. That could have cost the life of not only Sarah Palin’s child but herself “Alaska’s commander and chief” I ask are these personal matters worthy of public debate? At least some are.

I thought this power horse in the comedy world would have had a few more years left. George Carlin has died tonight at the age of 71. I had plans to see him in the Omaha metro area in march, however that was cut short do to a heart bypass earlier this year. I cannot believe we are loosing all of these straight shooters these days. Tim Russert, now Carlin.

Don Imus survived if only barely, Dog the Bounty Hunter, look out Weird Al is coming to get you. Rev. Al Sharpton said that his National Action Network supports A&E's decision to suspend the "Dog the Bounty Hunter" after Chapman used the “N” word in what he thought was a private phone conversation with his son.

I used the “N” word just a few minuets ago, yep I said its November, and well I know that is not what Dog the Bounty Hunter said. Look, I think its taboo to use the (SCARY “N” WORD) in the media. Do not say someone used the “N” word, they said Nigger plane and simple. I am sick of hearing of someone saying the “F” word, do you mean fuck, faggot, fascist? I am confused.

As of November 2nd, A&E announced it is removing the show from their schedule "for the foreseeable future".

The Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas might need to hold a special offering night soon. A jury in Baltimore found the leaders of the small Kansas church had invaded the privacy of Albert Snyder and family when they held the funeral for Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, killed in Iraq. The jury first awarded $2.9 million in compensatory damages. It later awarded $6 million in punitive damages for invasion of privacy and $2 million for causing emotional distress.

The church is well known to shock and rile attendees of soldier’s funerals. Some of the well known tag lines for the church group are: God Hates Your Tears, Thank God for Dead Soldiers, Fag Troops and Thank God for 9/11. The group came into the national spotlight in 1998, for picketing the funeral of Matthew Shepard, a young man from Wyoming who was beaten to death by two men because of his homosexuality.

Teen Convicted of Oral Sex Freed by High Court, Oh yea this is America

I recall watching Genarlow Wilson on a popular TV news magazine. Wilson a black teen was convicted of having consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old girl when he was 17, still a legal juvenal.

Wilson was sentenced to a 10 year prison term, which the Georgia Supreme Court ruled on a 4-3 vote that his 10-year sentence amounted to “cruel and unusual punishment.”
This ruling came after Georgia change it’s law to state that acts between teens relatively close in age a misdemeanor instead of a felony.

The system is rigged and if this case doesn’t prove that that I don’t know what would. This young man could have had normal vaginal sex with the same teen and had nothing happen to him at all. I’m happy for see Georgia rid their selves of old draconian oral sex penalty laws, but is it too late for those already in prison which don’t have the media handlers and support Wilson does? I’m afraid so.

Wilson says he hopes to attend college to pursue a college degree in sociology or business.

It’s a given really, something bad happens and someone with even worse intentions will try to profit from that bad situation. It happened in Katrina, The Tsunami and 9/11. Therefore, it is even more prudent that you make sure this does not happen again.

Listed are financially sound and use more of your money to help in relief effort and not in the pocket of their CEO’s.

I really do not know how these people sleep at night, I really don’t! However, you can do everything in your power to put them out of business.

As crazy this might seem there have been fourteen sightings reported in and around Graham, Washington to the National UFO Reporting Center headed up my researcher Peter Davenport. I am not saying that Shirley MacLaine is not cuckoo for coco puffs, but the fact remains, Americans are seeing UFO’s in higher numbers (myself included), a new national poll found that 72 percent of Americans believe the government is not telling the public everything it knows about UFO activity.

Unfortunately in this case unlike when and older man with an English accent and a pipe automatically add credibility to any case at hand, MacLaine does the polar opposite.
I just hope that when that craft stopped by they were there to meet Dennis and not Shirley.

California Evacuation Worse then Hurricane Katrina

I thought it must have been a mistake in the news control room. Tonight I saw thousands of people being ushered into San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium to seek shelter. Dare I say this image is eerily close to those images out of New Orlines in Hurricane Katrina?

Instead of shuttling trapped people at the mercy of the elements on their rooftops, these fewer helicopters shuttle water on fires that seems to have no end and an unstoppable craving for destruction. Over 900,000 people have been evacuated in fire areas as of Wednesday morning. But dose America really care what these devastating fir/es do in Southern California? Does water hold America’s ear to the disenfranchised ore then fire, a gas?

I’d rather take my chances with fir/e myself, do to the fact that I don’t know how to swim.
But are my comparisons fair? I don’t know because I’m not there. I once heard that the hindenburg was the worst disaster ever. Was it? Of course not, but with the hindenburg we are left with an undying image and the famous quote “Oh the Humanity.”
Hurricane Katrina left us staggering images of a city on the edge of destruction.
What has the California left us? SOCAL you need a better sound bite.

Candidates to go on New Imus Show, Obama says No

Ex-senator of Nebraska Bob Kerry encouraged candidates to go on Don Imus when he comes to New York’s WABC. Kerry went on "Democrats in particular may fear the wrath of the Al Sharptons of the world and feel pressured to stay away… we can't afford to start putting our interviewers through purity tests."

Democratic candidate Bill Richardson and John McCain said they would both go on Imus. However, an official statement from Sen. Barack Obama's campaign stated.
"(Sen. Obama) does not intend to go on the show and hopes that Imus has learned from the hurt and pain he caused.”
